4 Easy Ways to Camouflage Lip Fillers
When it comes to having lip filler in New Jersey, many patients believe that it’s all about subtle enhancements rather than exaggerated, dramatic results. Volbella® is a popular hyaluronic acid-based lip filler from the Juvederm® line, featuring a very lightweight consistency that makes it excellent for softening fine lines, enhancing small details, and slightly boosting volume. If you’ve chosen to have fillers, you might be hoping to make your lips look just a little poutier and lusher by adding volume but preserve their same basic shape.
The goal for many is for other people to notice that they look youthful, but not be able to tell what’s changed—rather than letting the whole world know that they’ve had “work done.” Keep in mind that though the treatment is associated with few risks or side effects, it is very common to experience some bruising, swelling, discoloration, and other side effects afterward, which are telltale signs that you’ve had fillers. Once these resolve, however, the enhancement may be virtually undetectable. Plus, you’re likely to be wearing a mask when going out, right?
For people who are still concerned about visible effects, there are also some simple ways to hide these side effects. Here are some recommendations from the South Jersey Skin Care & Laser Center team:
Look for the Right Lipstick
When you’re choosing lipstick after having filler, look for brands that are dark in colour, opaque, and promise full coverage. Some injectors will recommend that you bring makeup into their office so that you can conceal any side effects before you leave. Ideally, you should choose a lipstick that doesn’t allow your skin to be visible beneath it.
Avoid Medications That Thin the Blood
Stop taking anti-inflammatory medications and blood thinners for around a week before having fillers to decrease the risk of bleeding and bruising. Of course, any such changes should be made with the knowledge and approval of a primary care physician—and never at the risk of your health.
Use Arnica and Bromelain
You can take natural supplements such as arnica and bromelain (pineapple extract) just before and after lip fillers to minimize bruising. You can also apply a topical arnica gel to the lips.
Ice Your Lips
To keep swelling down, continue applying ice to your lips right after the treatment and for the next several hours.
