DAXXIFY^®

DAXXIFY^® works the same way as other neuromodulators: by temporarily limiting the injection site’s range of motion to prevent wrinkles from deepening. The botulinum toxin in the formula inhibits proper communication between nerve cells and the target muscles, reducing wrinkles and fine lines. The injectable is specifically designed for softening expression wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle contractions, making it highly effective for deep or difficult glabellar lines, which are deep “11s” or creases between the brows. It also works well for stubborn wrinkles that were previously difficult to treat.

Results can last for three to four months or longer—even up to nine months for some patients. That means fewer injection appointments will be needed in order to preserve continuous results compared to other similar treatments.

What sets DAXXIFY^® apart from its counterparts? The peptide-enhanced neuromodulator treatment can be more convenient for patients, since it can involve fewer appointments. The peptide technology is used to improve the delivery of purified botulinum toxin to nerve cells, giving it a faster onset in comparison to other similar treatments. The results also last for a longer period of time.

BOTOX^® is another injectable wrinkle treatment that works similarly to DAXXIFY^®. The active ingredient both treatments contain is the same: a botulinum toxin type A protein. BOTOX^® is the better-known treatment and is FDA approved for three cosmetic uses: forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. However, the results have a typically shorter duration than the expected lifespan of DAXXIFY^®, which can last for around 50 percent longer than other neuromodulators—and, of course, individual results vary. This is because the toxin is attached to a protein that helps to extend the effects on the treated muscles.

Another difference between DAXXIFY^® and other injectables is that it does not contain any human or animal byproducts. BOTOX^® contains human serum albumin for stability, while DAXXIFY^® uses peptides to help stabilize the product.

Treatment sessions for all botulinum toxin-based injectables are generally the same. A small amount of the product is injected into underlying muscles, causing the tissue to relax and the surface to look smoother. You should avoid blood thinners (if possible) prior to your injections and avoid strenuous exercise on the day of the treatment in order to minimize side effects.

DAXXIFY^® can be a good option for patients who feel like other neuromodulators wear off too quickly. Some patients also say that this product feels different from other botulinum toxin treatments. It’s said to feel lighter or more natural in comparison to other botulinum toxin injections for certain individuals. This treatment might also be a solution for patients who have developed a resistance to other types of botulinum toxin type A-based treatments. Anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to BOTOX^® should avoid this neuromodulator—and all neuromodulators—as well.

Sometimes this product may be best for people who have already tried other injectables and want to switch to a longer-lasting option. Patients who are new to neuromodulators might prefer trying shorter-lasting options that fade faster, so they can be sure that they are satisfied with the results of the procedure before trying a longer-lasting option.

Facial fillers such as the RHA^® family—which are resilient hyaluronic acid fillers that are designed to adapt to your dynamic facial movements—are another option for minimizing facial wrinkles. Unlike neuromodulators, dermal filler treatments add volume when they’re injected under the skin. They’re ideal for treating static wrinkles and hollows that are associated with collagen loss. Fillers can also enhance the general shape and definition of the face.

Aside from DAXXIFY^® injections, there are also other types of skin rejuvenation or resurfacing procedures to enhance the look of the skin, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, and dermaplaning. These procedures address cosmetic concerns that DAXXIFY^® on its own can’t address.
